Gasthof Bergkristall

RAUMLABOR - BERLIN

Following an invitation of raumlabor-berlin, a large number of different alternative theater and architect groups transformed the “palast der republik”, -the former house of the G.D.R. parliament-  into a hybrid. A white mountain interfused the “palast” and outgrow to the “Schloßplatz”. For 3 weeks the installation was open to the public and offered unique urban, nature experiences / mountaincity-experiences.

For the courageous visitors there was a special challenge: book a night in the hotel “bergkristall”. Growing out of the mountain 4 rooms offered a very special accommodation. Towel, bath in the mountain lake container, minibar and Breakfast included.

Close by the Hotel, on lovely meadows a field-kitchen was set up. This is where the “mountainbuilders” meet the visitors, every day a cantina proposed for 70 people stopping for a bite to eat. A social place for relaxation and recreation. Technical accommodation was available free of charge in the mountain camp. It provides fancy tents with space for two mountain-tourists on two levels of the scaffolding structure. Here, the own sleeping bag and sleeping pet carried in the rucksac promised an adventure tour by crossing Berlin to reach this base-camp, which is the ideal starting point for early summit conquests.
